We have tried to answer as many questions as possible below, but if there is anything we have missed, please just contact us and we will endeavour to answer your queries as best as we can.

How do I get a quote for storage a room?

You can fill in our online quote form (to go to contact us page), book over the telephone, or in person.

When I have decided to store with you, do I need to bring some form of identification?

Yes, you do. Acceptable forms of identification are a current valid passport or full driving licence. You will also need to bring proof of address, e.g. recent utility bill (not more than three months old) or a local authority tax bill (from the current billing year).

You may wish to bring a padlock to secure your own unit (however, we do stock a range of padlocks so these can be purchased on-site).

When can I access my self-storage unit?

You can access your stored items between the following times:

8am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday
9am to 2.00pm on Saturday

We may be able to accommodate access outside of these hours on a per-customer basis, please contact us for more details.

How often can I access my self-storage unit?

You can access your stored items as often as you wish during our opening hours.

What can I store in my unit?

You are welcome to store most things in our storage units. However, for obvious reasons, we are unable to accept the following items:

  • Hazardous or explosive goods
  • Ammunition or firearms
  • Contaminated, pollutant or toxic goods
  • Flammable or combustible materials such as gas, paint, petrol, oil or solvents
  • Any animals or other living creatures
  • Any perishable goods such as food, unless securely packed so that they are protected from, and do not attract, vermin
  • Any thing that emits fumes, smell or strong odours
  • Any illegal substances, illegal items, or goods illegally obtained
  • The Police have statutory powers to enter and search our premises.

What size room do I need?

What is the minimum and maximum terms of contract?

Our minimum self storage rental period is four weeks, we do not have a maximum storage duration. It should be noted that our most competitive rates are offered for long-term usage of our units.

What notice do I have to give?

Should you wish to terminate your storage agreement with HD1, we require seven days' notice. We only accept notice in writing, via letter, email or fax.

Upon termination, any deposit held will be refunded, less any sums held back for rent, damage, cleaning costs if your storage room is left dirty, or any rubbish removal or late notice charges.

How much does it cost?

This is dependent on the unit size and duration of use. To make a no-obligation enquiry, you can fill in our quote form, book over the telephone, or in person.

What payment methods do you accept?

When you first rent your room, we require a deposit equivalent to four weeks' rent (to cover us against damage or default), and also payment to the end of the calendar month (subsequent payments are taken at the beginning of the month.

Initial payment can be made by credit (MasterCard or Visa) or debit (Maestro or Switch) card. The deposit is refundable on departure, subject to any retention for damage, and/or failure to give the required notice. Subsequent payments must be made, or are collected automatically, in advance. Automatic payments can be made by credit or debit card, or by direct debit. Payments made by direct debit are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee Scheme.

Do I need insurance?

Most definitely! We insist that all customers' self storage items are fully insured while they are stored with us. This is in order to give you complete peace of mind; not only are your things stored safely and securely, but, if the worse should happen, you don't suffer any financial loss. HD1 Secure Self Storage offers it's own insurance policy - please ask us for further details.

If however, your existing household or business insurance policy covers your goods while in storage, we will need to see a copy of a valid insurance schedule.

Where can I view a copy of HD1 Self Storage Solutions' terms & conditions?

How do I access my storage unit?

Rooms are accessible during our opening hours. During these hours, the main gates to the car park are open. Your unit is padlocked, and you have the only key. When you leave your unit, you must re-secure the padlock.

How can I transfer my goods and belongings to my store room from my car or van?

We have a range of handling equipment at your disposal to assist you in moving your goods and belongings to and from your storage unit.

What are your security arrangements?

HD1 is fully staffed during opening hours, and also operates 24-hour CCTV.

Out of hours, we operate 24-hour CCTV and a DualCom police response intruder alarm. The facility also has a razor wire perimeter with high security fencing and gates

Do you sell packaging materials for use in your storage units?
